Analytics HealthCheck detects problems with Google Analytics data that you might not even know exist! HealthCheck scans your Google Analytics profile, analyzing data points against a statistical model that identifies anomalies in your data caused by problems with your Google Analytics installation.

Instructions:

  1. Click the “Start HealthCheck” link above
  2. A window will open and you’ll be asked to authenticate with Google, giving HealthCheck the ability to analyze data from your Google Analytics profile
  3. Click the “grant access” access button
  4. You’ll be taken back to HealthCheck where you can select a profile to run a HealthCheck on

HOW DOES ANALYTICS HEALTHCHECK WORK?

Unlike other Google Analytics “check” and “scan” tools, Analytics HealthCheck looks behind the scenes at your actual Google Analyitcs data rather than scanning the front-end of your site to find problems with your installation of Google Analytics.  Analytics HealthCheck uses the Google Analytics Data Export API to extract data from the Profile you choose and analyzes that data against a statistical model we’ve built.  By analyzing the data for specific anomolies we know are caused by cookie integrity and internal referral problems we can detect if or when, where, and to what severity your Google Analytics data has problems.

IF I USE ANALYTICS HEALTHCHECK WILL YOU BE ABLE TO ACCESS MY GOOGLE ANALYTICS DATA ANYTIME?

No, we won’t.  Analytics HealthCheck can only access and analyze your profile data when you initiate a check.  To run HealthCheck you have to grant HealthCheck access to your Google Analytics account using the Google authentication platform.  That access is one-time, not permanent.  Furthermore, since Analytics HealthCheck uses the Google Analytics API in a “client-side” fashion (meaning your web browser is the one talking to the Google Analytics API), the “gears” of HealthCheck don’t provide any way for our tool to analyze your data except when you run a check and for the purposes of the check.

WHAT ABOUT PRIVACY?

We’re like you and take privacy seriously.  We’ve engineered Analytics HealthCheck in a way that supports data and user privacy.  HealthCheck results are real-time and delivered only to you.  You have the option to send your results to us for further analysis if you’d like to discuss consultation to remedy problems found.  HealthCheck does retain data about the number of errors found and the severity of errors, but does not retain information about the specific site.  When you start a HealthCheck the initial form providing your name, email, and website is recorded and you will receive a welcome email as well as announcements about updates to HealthCheck, opportunities to learn more about Google Analytics, and, of course results of your check, if requested.
